Recipe: Asian Potstickers
Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground pork
- 6 cilantro leaves – or you can use parsley, minced fine
- 1 scallion, minced very fine
- 1 clove garlic, minced fine
- 1 egg
- 1 tbl. soy sauce
- 1 package of square wonton wrappers
Instructions
- Mix the first six ingredients together.
- Put a mound of the meat mixture in the middle of the wonton wrapper. Using your finger, moisten the four sides of the wrapper with water. Then fold the wrapper in to create a pouch or envelope and squeeze shut in the middle.
- Cut two pieces of parchment paper to fit inside of the bamboo cooker. Usually, bamboo cookers have two levels. Place the wonton packages inside the cooker. Don’t let them touch one another. I fit 12 on each level.
- Cover the cooker with the lid and steam the wontons. Usually, it takes about ten minutes, but touch them and make sure they feel firm.
- Serve with soy sauce.
Quick Notes
- These are beautiful and look impressive. Everyone loves them and after you have done them once, they are very easy. It only takes me a few minutes. Usually, I make them about six hours ahead and put the bamboo cooker right into my refrigerator.
- You will need a bamboo steamer – you can get one at any cooking store.
- You will need a pan large enough to hold the steamer, so you can create the steam.
